At Buildforce, we aim to solve the most pressing challenges in the electrical contracting industry. Today, we're excited to announce our newest feature: Travel Jobs.
We’ve seen big changes in the construction industry in the past year alone. These changes are happening rapidly, and Buildforce is responding quickly to where the industry is headed by helping our customers adapt and succeed. With major investments in rural infrastructure—particularly data centers—electrical contractors who are looking to stay competitive and want to win bids on these projects are likely to hit staffing roadblocks. Through the first six months of 2024 alone, 78 data center projects began construction, totaling over $9 billion and almost 12 million square feet, according to Dodge Construction Network Data. Many of these projects exist in rural areas where skilled local talent is scarce, while electricians in saturated markets search for better opportunities.
Travel Jobs bridges this gap, creating a win-win for both contractors and electricians.
Workers can now mark their travel preferences right in their profile by selecting "willing to travel" in their job preferences.
Once enabled, they'll automatically receive notifications for relevant travel opportunities that match their skills and experience.
For contractors, Travel Jobs simplifies the process of staffing remote projects. The platform now displays per diem and lodging information directly in job listings, giving traveling electricians clear expectations about compensation packages.
The ability to find and apply to travel jobs within minutes can transform an electrician's career path and earning potential. For contractors, especially those managing multi-state operations or specialized projects, Travel Jobs provides access to a pre-qualified workforce ready to mobilize when and where they're needed most.
This feature marks a significant step forward not just for Buildforce, but for the entire construction industry. As projects spread into new regions and demand for specialized electrical work grows, Travel Jobs positions our community to meet these challenges head-on.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance this feature based on your feedback and needs.
