I became an electrician because I had previously worked as a carpenter in Washington State. However, when I moved here, pay was not good for carpenters, so I applied at Buildforce and you started me. I heard electricians have a higher wage over time.
Buildforce seemed like a good place to start since they said they were hiring. It seemed like it was urgently hiring, so there was a good chance to be hired.
At the end of the week, I am excited for the Sabbath, a day of rest. There is no better time to rest than Saturday after working yourself to aches over the last six days.
So, during the weekends, I would watch YouTube videos on science, tech, and other subjects. This happens on Saturday, and I also read on ThePathofTruth.com and maybe do a project too.
Then on Sunday, I do things like clean, mow the lawn, and study electrical code.
As for learning more, I would like to learn more about transformers and motors. Maybe an NCCER course would be ideal for that, so that I could understand more than just AC compressors. But that is not all; the act of managing and doing logistics for a job site's electrical would be great to learn about since things get more complicated with managing.
Now, for goals, I would like to get a Journeyman license. After that, a master license. It would be nice to have experience managing ten or so electricians as a foreman to get an idea of what that is like.
I find that in a job, the three big items are a lawful company, the opportunity to do many tasks, and happy co-workers. These things help make the job a lasting joy.
My proudest moment with Buildforce was completing a summer in the heat of residential. Just getting up for work and being on time is God's grace. The hardest part is usually waking up.
I do not drink coffee. I just drink water to get hydrated and feel better in the morning.
A fun fact is that I was in the NCAA for rifle while I was at the University of Akron. I did decent, but I never got into the championship.
My hometown was Graham, Washington. Lots of rain and plenty of forest.
